Energy is one of the biggest overheads for branded and own label bottled water producer Shepley Spring, which supplies the retail, sports and convenience sectors. Sustainability is also a key priority for the firm.
Core Facility Services has helped Shepley Spring cut its energy costs by £100K through proactive energy management, releasing capital for investment in future proofing its business.
Core has also looked at a range of sustainability measures to help the business reduce its environmental impact and keep its overheads as low as possible. These have included feasibility studies for gas turbine technology, roof mounted solar panels, voltage optimisation, power factor correction and electric vehicle charging points.
Strategic energy purchasing is one of the most effective ways to bring down an organisation’s energy budget, particularly for businesses in the manufacturing sector which have a big demand for power.

Charles Smith of Shepley Spring said immediate savings had been made by changing energy supplier and through Core’s proactive approach to energy purchasing, helping to improve the manufacturer’s bottom line.
Charles said: “As a business we are always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact and Core has helped us gain a much better understanding of how we use energy across the business and where opportunities exist to reduce consumption.
“One of the things we are working together on is researching and implementing renewable energy options which will help us go even further towards achieving our sustainability goals.
“In the meantime, the savings we have already made will enable us to invest in innovation to keep pace with the changing needs and priorities of our customers,” he added.
Core worked closely with Shepley Spring’s new energy supplier to make sure the changeover went smoothly. Our energy purchasing team keep Shepley Spring updated with market intelligence to inform gas and power buying decisions and protect the business from the impact of price fluctuations.
