Homeless charity Happy Days to benefit from televised FCHT match

Halifax Town shirt sponsor Core Facility Services has announced that it will be highlighting the work of homeless charity Happy Days at the club’s televised game against Ebbsfleet Utd on March 14.

Core staff will be attending with collection buckets to raise money for the charity before settling down to watch the match, which will be shown on BT Sport 1.

FCHT’s Ben Bottomley will interview Happy Days CEO Dave Fawcett prior to kick off.

Happy Days provides safe accommodation and work opportunities for vulnerable local adults. Announcements will be made during the game to promote the charity’s work and encourage donations.

Core chairman Gareth Henderson recently became a trustee of Happy Days and said the match was a perfect opportunity to give something back to the local community.

“Happy Days is making a real and sustainable difference to people in our community who are experiencing poverty, addiction and the effects of a chaotic lifestyle, providing love, hope and support when they need it most,” he said.

“The camaraderie of FCHT fans that we see week in, week out, and the high profile of this particular match makes this the perfect occasion to celebrate the work that Happy Days is doing,” he added.

David Bosomworth of FCHT said: “We are delighted to be maximising the opportunity of this televised game to support such an important local charity and we look forward to learning more about Happy Days from Dave on the day.”

Dave Fawcett of Happy Days said: “We are hugely grateful to Core and FCHT for this opportunity to raise money for some of our key projects in the year ahead.

“Our main priorities at the moment are to expand our Huddersfield project from 6 beds to 12 beds which can’t happen without extra fundraising and resources,” he said.

“Every penny raised on the day will help us towards this goal and offer long term, sustainable support to vulnerable individuals so that we can move them away from homelessness towards a life of independence.”
